Me and Luke got married just a few days before Christmas. We were planning to have a big ceremony in March with my mom and all of our friends and family that will be traveling for the wedding. However, we could not wait to be married. Ironically, it is easier to plan for a wedding being married (and living together) than not.
So we just celebrated a small ceremony at our backyard and decided to still go ahead with the big wedding in a few months.
I have to make a huge shoutout to our parents because they helped us A LOT. What I thought it was going to be a small simple wedding at our backyard, ended up becoming my dreamed wedding.
There was a bunch of DIY projects involved from almost all of us. My husband and father in law worked on the basketball court to make it a pretty setting for the ceremony.
Me and my sister in law put together the dinner table with Christmas garlands, vases and floating candles.
A friend who got married a few weeks before let me borrow her wedding arch. I decorated it with christmas lights, green leaves and Christmas flowers. Later on, my sister in law put the gold ribbon around it.
My mother in law baked this delicious cake and my sister in law was in charge of decorating it. They used to have a cake business a few years ago. And let me tell you, this cake came out perfect and it was absolutely delicious. We were so lucky.
I really loved how the cake table turned out. To go with the cake, I made that glass sign and the flower arrangement. Later on, they added the unity candles to the table.
I basically handled the flower department with my cousin. The day before the wedding, we headed The Fresh Market for some awesome deals on beautiful flowers. Just in a couple of hours, we assembled the bouquets, the flower arrangement for the cake table and the buttoners.
My beautiful cousin was in charge of the pictures. She’s a millennial with a very pretty Instagram feed and an awesome creativity for pictures. I let her borrow my camera and she did an amazing job. Some of out friends also took some amazing pictures with their phones that are also included in this post.
My wedding dress was from David’s Bridal. I already had purchased another wedding dress from them with my mom, but I really did not want to use it without her. So 5 days before the wedding, I came back with the same bridal consultant and literally told her this “I’m getting married in 5 days. I need a beautiful dress that fits my budget and that doesn’t need any alterations.” Crazy. I know. But guest what…we found it! and she completely rocks.
Also, my hair and make up was done by myself.
Luke and I decided to go on our honeymoon next year. We really wanted to enjoy Christmas with our families.
Just remembering our wedding day and sharing all the details in here is making my heart melt. We seriously love how everything turned out and I’ll be eternally grateful to our families for helping us SO MUCH on creating this dreamed day.
