Hello friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful Friday.
Today I had a few favorites to share with you. Most of them are food and at the end of this post I’ll explain why. And because there are many items, let’s jump right into it.
TRATTORIA DI PIU
This small cute Italian place at Doral offers the widest variety of raviolis I’ve seen in the Miami area. Yesterday was my second time there and couldn’t order anything different than what I had the first time I went. Probably I won’t order something different during my next visit either. Because these mushroom raviolis with pink sauce are just heaven. If you’re ever around the Doral area and looking to have amazing (and quite affordable) pasta, give this place a try!
Now that I’m running more days and more miles, I’ve been feeling weird aches on my heels throughout the day. I’ve come to realize that maybe my go-to flats and sandals are becoming a problem to my feet. So I’ve been switching it up to my old Vans to give them some extra cushion. The aches have been feeling better since I started wearing them.
MIXED BERRIES RXBAR
Last year around the summer period I tried the RXBars in the coconut and chocolate chip flavor and blueberry flavor. I didn’t like them that much. Up until a week ago I couldn’t understand why people even like them. Long story short, I was walking around Trader Joe’s as I spotted this mixed berries kind. I have to be honest. I felt extremely attracted by the color package and decided to give it a try. Yup. The package was the deal-breaker on my purchase decision. And you know what? They are seriously delicious. They remind me to Newton cookies. Can’t wait to be back at TJ to pick some more of these.
Different people throughout my life (including but not limited to my mom, roommate, boyfriend, and even former boss) had told me that I’m going to have huge cravings when I get pregnant. They say this because I always get the weirdest and very specific cravings without being pregnant (lol). This week I was craving seafood and rice. So this was my staple dinner: Two TJ’s Salmon patties, white rice, and stir fry veggies made it perfectly for my craving.
Janae on the Hungry Runner Girl mentioned this a few weeks ago. I couldn’t pass on them on my line to pay at TJ. This is basically a white chocolate bar with sprinkles. It reminded me to my childhood’s favorite white chocolate and I loved it. If you’re a fan of white chocolate like me, please try this.
COCONUT OIL BLENDED COFFEE
Milk in my coffee was one of the things I needed to give up on after my GERD diagnose. However, I absolutely hate the flavor of almost every kind of milk substitutes out there. I’ve seen Julie from PB fingers blending her coffee with coconut oil lately. She said it was the perfect substitute for the whole milk she normally uses. So I decided to give it a try because hey, at this point I had nothing to lose. Well… It turns out my life changed after the first zip. I don’t think I’ll ever drink black coffee in the mornings in a long long time. Thank you Julie and whoever had this amazing idea!
As you might have notice, this post was almost all about food. I’m at a happy place with my acid reflux situation right now, so I’m back to myself when it comes to enjoying my food. Also, my increased levels of physical activity are making me more hungry and that’s something I’m not going to complain at all. I still remember those horrible days when appetite was just not happening. It was so frustrating for me not being able to eat anything. That is why my health is something that I’m really grateful for right now.
As the old expression says: You don’t know what you have until you lose it. I never imagined my appetite and my stomach comfort was going to be one of them. So let’s be grateful for every positive thing that is going on in our lives right now. Even if it’s the smallest.
What is one thing you are grateful for today?
